Mr McArthur has extensive experience of performing surgery for patients with inflammatory bowel conditions (Crohn’s and Ulcerative Colitis). Where possible, this surgery is undertaken employing minimally invasive techniques. Mr McArthur works closely with gastroenterologists to ensure the best management of such patients.

Mr McArthur accepts referrals for patients with ulcerative colitis to undertake laparoscopic ileal pouch surgery. During this operation, the entire diseased colon and rectum is removed, and an ileal pouch is formed to allow patients to have their bowels open normally.
